Freire Shipyard Contracts the Cyber Security by Design Service in a New Vessel

Aeromarine and S2 Grupo will manage the implementation of cybersecurity for all IT and OT equipment on the new 50m oceanographic vessel to be built by Astilleros Freire, commissioned by KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology). The Cyber Security by Design service will enable the new vessel to be prepared to obtain the Essential+ cybersecurity certification from the classification society DNV.

It is the second ship that Aeromarine and S2 Grupo will certify with this level of cyber security in Spain, which places us as leaders in this type of services in Europe.

Cyber Security by Design is a service that:

  1. Guarantees that manufacturers send the necessary documentation for certification.
  2. Meets the requirements set by DNV for each critical piece of equipment.
  3. Systems are integrated following the defined Zones and Ducts diagram.
  4. Tests ratify the final configuration described in the documentation.
  5. It allows checking for undetected safety holes.
  6. Prepares the vessel for certification tests.
  7. Helps to develop the ship’s cyber security management system, once handed over to the ship owner.
